Friday Flower

Sonny says:

" Kathy's little dogwood is about nineteen years old, and only about seven feet tall.
A couple of years after the boys and I planted it, Coco, our Lab puppy, chewed it up and almost killed it. I let it alone, trimming what I needed to, and it came back.
Then, a few years later, in 2002, a limb fell out of our oak tree and smashed it to the ground.
It is back and blooms every year now."

We've got a chincopin like that: My brother got it as a tiny seedling at the Boy Scout show. We planted it in the yard and it got mowed at least once, but hung in there and is now a sturdy, if not so tall, shade tree.
