I have about 800 vintage patterns, about a third of which are from the 1940s. I have a bunch of these . . . I think of them as "day suits" (like day dresses) but found out recently that the proper term is "dressmaker suits". As in, like a suit but constructed more in the manner of a dress, with less structure, interfacing, etc.
