This was one of the projects that derailed the Sunshine Family dresses.
I like to finish a quilt a year. Just finish, though--it doesn't have to be made from beginning to end, so quilting a top I made earlier counts. I pieced this giant string quilt during Hurricane Harvey in 2017 and pin-basted it . . . I think earlier this year or in late 2019. Then I couldn't decide how to quilt it.
I finally decided on concentric squares, just to make it easier and ensure I actually got it done.

I think I may actually keep this one. I counted and I've made 16 quilts (mostly smaller ones; lap quilts) but only kept three: This one, my old T-shirt quilt, and the small bricks quilt that took me a lifetime to finish.
