Here you go: Proof that I accomplished something.

"I did the black the same way as the red strip, using the original pattern pieces as templates, tracing along the holes I'd made in them, and then measuring down from the holes. This time, I measured down 1 inch: Down 1 1/2 inch for the red strip, then adding back 1/2 inch for the seam allowance.

When everything was sewn together, I went back and evened off the sides with a straight-edge and rotary cutter.

I also finished the seams in the back, which will make the skirt a little stiff but at least will keep them from fraying. I hate frayed seams, but I don't have a serger."
