Simplicity 1996 9880 pale green muslin

Listening: Old Crow Medicine Show

This was a quick wearable muslin-ish project I squeezed in before Thanksgiving.  I was testing a cleaned-up version of the dark green dress I made three years ago.  This one has short sleeves and an ankle-length skirt.

And lavender print scrap hem facing:

I like the surprise of the hem facing----what a subtle detail that is. I also like the simplicity of the dress, and its prairie style.
I use scrap facings a WHOLE LOT, partly to save yardage in case I've run short of the main fabric (I usually have to lengthen bodices and sleeves and sometimes I end up cutting it pretty close), but also because it's fun. I have a friend who also sews and she calls it an 'inside joke', ha ha.
