Simplicity 9880 pattern hack: Wisconsin Flower Child

Listening: Matt Harlan

Five years ago when Hancock's closed, I got a yard of the AH-MAZ-ING 1970s-style print on clearance.  I couldn't get any more.  A friend of mine got the last of it from the Hancock's near his office and mailed it to me from Wisconsin as a surprise.

I've been sitting on it ever since because some fabrics you really cannot risk wasting on the wrong project.  I knew what I wanted but I had to make sure I had the right pattern to achieve it.

Enter 9880,  Again,

I was experimenting for something else: Rotated 9880's bust dart to the waist and took the waist in a little more.  Made it out of some stiff blue calico that I got who-knows-where.  Folks, we had a winner!

So I whipped up some set-in cap sleeves and the crazypants kaleidoscope floral is now a dress.

It is THE DRESS.

Actually, the test version is pretty awesome, too.  I'm gonna wear them both a lot, I can tell.
