Simplicity 4287 (1953?) Brooklyn party dress: Part I

Third in line after Valentine's and St. Patrick's Days is my cousin's wedding reception this summer.  She's already married; they're just doing the party.  I've had this sucker planned for a long time but couldn't squeeze it into my sewing schedule.

I think that Simplicity 4783 is from 1953:


It claims to be easy to make; I think it's just a fitted bodice with a huge rectangle gathered on for a skirt.

We're going big or going home with this one: Blue and yellow modern floral cotton . . .


And I'll probably bind the neck and armscyes in yellow bias.

I need yellow shoes, don't I?  Yes, I do.
